Heads of Learning Area – Science Years 7 to 10 Assessment Workshop (Southwest region)

The Heads of Learning Area – Science are invited to attend a workshop on the development of assessment tasks and marking keys to support comparability of assessment in Years 7–10 Science.
The workshop will focus on unpacking the principles of assessment and developing a shared understanding of the features of a quality assessment task and marking key. Attendees will participate in an assessment task and marking key reflection process, which can be shared with their colleagues as a process to review school developed assessment tasks and marking keys.
A school moderation process and teacher support materials will also be a focus of the workshop. Participants are asked to bring at least one assessment task for Year 8, and the accompanying marking key. Participants are also asked to bring a mobile device to connect to the internet.
The workshop is free to attend, but schools are responsible for teacher relief and any travel and accommodation expenses (if applicable).
The workshop is scheduled for Monday, 12 June 2023, 12.30–3.30 pm at St Mary MacKillop College, College Avenue, West Busselton.

Commencement of the OLNA testing in Term 2

Schools and other education providers are reminded that in Term 2 2023, OLNA testing for Window A will conclude on Friday, 12 May. Window B will commence on Monday, 12 June and will conclude on Friday, 23 June. Schools are also reminded of the following important dates for OLNA in Term 2:
Monday, 22 May: Updates to requests from schools for adjustments for Term 2 Window B.
Thursday, 1 June: Closing date for adjustment requests for Term 2 Window B.
Tuesday, 6 June: OLNA student login details and updated student lists for Term 2 Window B. Results from the OLNA Term 2 Window A available in SIRS.
Monday, 17 July: Results from the OLNA Term 2 Window B available in SIRS.
