In Terms 3 and 4, the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) will deliver professional learning workshops to support teachers to use the Year 5 teaching and learning exemplar, ‘The Pinjarra Massacre: Truth-telling’.
These workshops provide a valuable opportunity for teachers to engage with ‘The Pinjarra Massacre: Truth-telling. An apology on October 28, 2025 to the Bindjareb Noongar people by His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM Governor of Western Australia’. This significant Western Australian history resource has been developed to support implementation of the mandated Year 9 History curriculum content.
Workshops will be available in metropolitan and regional locations, with both in-person and online options.
The professional learning will focus on teaching this period in Western Australian history, including colonisation and the 1834 Pinjarra Massacre, with an emphasis on historical accuracy, cultural respect and trauma-informed practice.
Teachers will explore resources that integrate cultural knowledge, primary sources and trauma-informed approaches to support confident, respectful and meaningful classroom learning.

The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) is offering a professional learning workshop in Term 3, 2026 to support schools with their delivery of the revised Indonesian ATAR Year 11 syllabus in 2027.
The workshop is intended for schools offering the Indonesian ATAR course in 2027.
The workshop will focus on:
- developing a shared understanding of the teaching and assessment requirements
- exploring sample support materials provided by the Authority.
The workshop will be held from 8.30 am to 3.00 pm on Thursday, 10 September 2026 at the Authority’s Cannington office.
Attendance is optional and free; however, schools are responsible for any associated costs, such as teacher relief.

The revised Indonesian ATAR course replaces the current Indonesian: Second Language course. Schools are required to teach the revised Indonesian ATAR Year 11 syllabus from 2027.

The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) is offering syllabus review briefings for Mathematics Applications and Mathematics Methods ATAR Years 11 and 12 courses. All briefings will be conducted online.
The purpose of these briefings is to:
- identify the main changes between the current and the proposed course syllabuses
- learn about the key features of the proposed course syllabuses
- ask clarifying questions
- provide feedback to the Authority.
It is important for attendees to familiarise themselves with the draft syllabus review materials before the briefing/s. Following each briefing, the syllabus review consultation survey will be available for attendees to complete online.
The draft materials and the survey are available under the ‘Syllabus review’ accordion on the relevant course page:
