The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) will be conducting workshops during Terms 3 and 4 for teachers of the Careers and Employability course.
The purpose of these workshops is to provide teachers with information on the Authority’s assessment requirements for the new Year 12 Careers and Employability syllabus to be implemented in 2026. They are intended for schools offering the Year 11 Careers and Employability course in 2025 and schools planning to offer the Year 12 Careers and Employability course in 2026.
The focus of the workshops will be on developing a course and assessment outline, constructing sample assessment questions, and developing analytical marking keys.
The workshops will include:
- developing a shared understanding of the assessment requirements
- analysing sample support materials provided by the Authority
- a briefing on the format of the externally set task (EST).
These workshops are not compulsory and are free to attend. Schools are responsible for any costs incurred (for example, teacher relief) as a result of attendance at the workshops.
The dates for these workshops are:
- In‑person: Tuesday, 23 September 2025 – Canning River Eco Education Centre, Queens Park Road, Wilson, 12.30 pm – 3.00 pm
- In‑person: Monday, 3 November 2025 – Telethon Speech and Hearing Centre, 36 Dodd Street, Wembley, 12.30 pm – 3.00 pm
