The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) is offering an online briefing to support schools and teachers using the Australian Curriculum Languages and an in-person half‑day workshop to support teachers and schools using the Australian Curriculum: Auslan.

Australian Curriculum Languages – Online familiarisation briefing

Australian Curriculum Languages to be covered in this briefing are:

• Arabic
• Chinese
• Classical Greek
• Classical Languages Framework
• Latin
• Modern Greek
• Spanish
• Turkish
• Vietnamese.

Australian Curriculum Languages: Auslan – In-person familiarisation workshop

The purpose of this workshop is to familiarise teachers with the relationship between the Australian Curriculum: Auslan and the revised Western Australian curriculum: Languages. It will cover:

• the protocols related to the introduction of an Auslan teaching and learning program in contextually and culturally sensitive and appropriate ways
• the key similarities and differences between the curriculum structures
• the implications for planning, teaching and assessing
• practical approaches for implementing the Australian Curriculum while meeting the Western Australian curriculum and reporting requirements.

Briefing and workshop dates

• Australian Curriculum Languages – Online familiarisation briefing: Thursday, 22 October 2026 from 3.30–4.30 pm.
• Australian Curriculum: Auslan – In-person familiarisation workshop: Monday, 23 November 2026 from 8.30 am – 12.00 pm, Conference rooms 1–3, Mason Bird Building, 303 Sevenoaks Street, Cannington 6107.

Both the briefing and the workshop are not compulsory and are free to attend.
