The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) has consulted with stakeholders and has updated its Curriculum and Assessment Advice – COVID-19 website - https://www.scsa.wa.edu.au/curriculum-assessment-covid-19/overview

The recent update symbol and 18 May 2020 date stamp indicate recent updates.

Update – Pre-primary to Year 10 (P-10) Semester 1 reporting

Due to COVID-19 and the disruption to learning and teaching in Semester 1, 2020, the Authority has made an amendment to Section 5.3 Reporting (page 4) of the Pre-primary to Year 10: Teaching, Assessing and Reporting Policy.

Read the amendment and Frequently Asked Questions.

Department of Education and Catholic schools must ensure that they refer to their school system policy requirements. Independent schools will continue to follow their own school policy, taking into account the Authority's amendment.

Update – Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) Year 9 window

Schools will be provided with an additional OLNA sitting in 2020 for Year 9 students on an opt-in basis. In addition, this year, Year 9 students who achieved Band 8 or higher in the relevant Year 7 NAPLAN writing assessment will be considered to have met and prequalified for the writing standard.

The Authority will provide further details regarding the additional opportunity for Year 9 students to sit the OLNA via its Kto10 Circular.
