Guide to Grades
The Guide to Grades package is an easy-to-use online tool to support teachers in assessing and reporting on student achievement in WACE courses for Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3.
The Guide to Grades package includes grade descriptions and annotated work samples, which illustrate characteristics of student achievement from A (Excellent achievement) to C (Satisfactory achievement) at each stage of a course across a range of assessment types.
Teachers can use the information in the Guide to Grades package to assist in making judgements about student achievement and assigning grades for each stage of a particular course. Grades are assigned at the completion of a unit or semester based on the rank order of students. Grades should not be allocated to individual assessments.
Each grade is based on the student’s overall achievement for the unit as judged by reference to a set of pre-determined standards. These standards are defined by grade descriptions and annotated work samples.
